Deleting your account and data

You can have your fnder account and the data attached to it deleted. The app does not have a self-service button for it yet, so for now it is one email — and this page says exactly what happens after you send it.

How to ask

Send an email to avirajsfdc@gmail.com from the address your account uses, with the subject "fnder account deletion request". Sending from the account's own address is how we confirm it is you; if you signed in with Google, use that Google address.

You do not need to give a reason, and you will not be talked out of it.

Open a deletion request

Deletion cannot be undone. Your ads, messages and saved items are gone for good. If you want a copy of anything, ask for an export first — see your rights — and we will send it before deleting anything.

What is removed

  • Your account and sign-in credentials.
  • Your profile: display name, picture and place label.
  • Your stored location — the single latitude and longitude held for your account.
  • All of your ads, including their photos and the location each was posted from.
  • Your unpublished drafts.
  • Your saved ads and your interest marks.
  • Your comments and replies, and the likes you gave.
  • Your chat conversations and the messages and photos in them.
  • Your push notification tokens.
  • Your block list.

Shared links to your ads stop working at the same time: the public page for an ad is generated from the ad, so when the ad goes, the page returns "no longer available".

What is kept, and why

KeptWhy
Reports filed about you A moderation record has to survive the account it is about, or deleting an account would be a way to erase complaints. These keep the report and its date; they no longer point at a live profile.
The other person's copy of a chat A conversation belongs to two people. Your messages are removed from our records of your account; what the other person has already received and read is theirs.
Backups Deleted data can persist in routine encrypted backups until those backups expire on their normal cycle. It is not restored into the live service.
Anything others copied Screenshots, saved photos and messages forwarded elsewhere are outside our reach. Nothing on any service can undo those.

Deleting less than everything

You may not need the whole account gone. From inside the app you can already:

  • delete any ad you have posted, which removes its photos with it;
  • delete a comment you wrote;
  • delete a conversation from your inbox;
  • discard a draft;
  • unsave an ad, or take back an interest mark;
  • revoke the location permission in Android's settings, which stops the app reading your position at all.

To change your display name or picture, use Edit profile. To have a single thing removed that you cannot remove yourself, email us and name it.

How long it takes

We will confirm your request when we receive it, and complete the deletion within 30 days — usually much sooner. If anything prevents us from deleting something you have asked about, we will tell you what it is and why.
