Terms & conditions

The agreement between you and fnder. It is short on purpose, and it tries to say plainly who is responsible for what — particularly for deals made between two people who met through the app.

Effective 13 October 2026 Last updated 13 October 2026

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using the fnder app, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use fnder.

2. What fnder is — and is not

fnder is a noticeboard. It shows ads posted by its users, ordered by how far away they are, and gives those users a way to talk to each other.

fnder is not:

  • a seller, buyer, landlord, employer, agent or broker;
  • a party to any agreement you reach with another user;
  • a payment service — the app processes no money at all, and there is no escrow, no wallet and no "buyer protection";
  • a verifier of the people, goods, properties or jobs advertised on it.

Using fnder is free. We do not charge for posting, messaging or browsing.

3. Who may use it

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. You must use fnder only for lawful purposes and in line with the laws that apply where you are.

4. Your account

  • Give accurate information, and keep your display name truthful — it is how a stranger decides whether to meet you.
  • One account per person. Do not create an account for somebody else, or impersonate anyone.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Tell us if you think somebody else has got into it.

5. Posting ads

An ad must describe something real that you are genuinely offering or looking for, in the category it belongs in, at a price you mean. The app applies some limits, and they are deliberate:

  • An account may publish three ads a day.
  • Posting the same ad twice — same category, same words — is refused. Repost by editing the original rather than duplicating it.
  • Up to six photos per ad. They must be of the actual item, property, or work being advertised.
  • An ad is pinned to the place it was posted from, and is shown within a radius of up to 10 km. Do not try to misrepresent where you are.

Anything you write in an ad is public, including a phone number. The app warns you about this; posting a number is your choice and your risk.

6. What you may not post

You may not post, offer, request or advertise:

  • anything illegal to sell, own, rent or advertise where you are;
  • weapons, ammunition, explosives, drugs, tobacco, alcohol or prescription medicines;
  • live animals, human remains, or body parts and fluids;
  • counterfeit goods, stolen property, or anything you do not have the right to sell;
  • sexual services, pornography or anything sexualising a minor;
  • financial schemes, lotteries, gambling, loans, "work from home" recruitment fees or any offer that requires an advance payment to apply;
  • personal data about somebody else, or content you do not own the rights to;
  • hateful, harassing, threatening or discriminatory content, including in a job ad;
  • malware, phishing, or links intended to deceive;
  • spam, duplicate listings, bait pricing, or ads whose real purpose is to drive traffic somewhere else.

The community guidelines explain the thinking behind these in plainer language.

7. Messages and conduct

  • Do not harass, threaten, insult or spam anyone through comments or chat.
  • Do not use the chat to send unsolicited advertising.
  • Do not ask for, or send, money in advance of seeing what you are buying.
  • Do not share another person's private information, including screenshots of a private conversation.
  • Do not scrape, reverse-engineer or automate the service, or try to get around the posting limits or the radius.

8. Screening, reports and blocks

Every ad is checked against a list of prohibited terms before it is published, and you are told on the form if it fails so that you can fix it. This check is automated, it is not perfect, and passing it is not an endorsement of your ad.

Any user can report an ad or a person, and any user can block another. A block works in both directions at once: neither of you will see the other's ads, comments or messages afterwards. Reports are kept on file even if the ad is deleted.

We may remove any ad, comment or message, and suspend or close any account, where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken — and we may do so without notice where the content is unlawful or dangerous.

9. Your content and the licence you give us

You keep ownership of everything you post. You do not transfer it to us.

So that the app can do its job, you grant fnder a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display, and show your content to other users — including on the public page that is created when an ad is shared as a link. This licence exists only to run the service, lasts while the content is on fnder, and ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups and for the moderation records described in the privacy policy.

You confirm that you have the right to post what you post, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. If you believe something on fnder infringes your rights, write to avirajsfdc@gmail.com with enough detail to identify it.

10. Deals between users

Any agreement you make through fnder is between you and the other person. We are not part of it. We do not hold the money, inspect the goods, check the property, verify the employer, or guarantee that anybody turns up.

Practical advice, which the app also shows inside a chat thread:

  • Meet in a public place, in daylight, and take somebody with you if you can.
  • See the item before you pay for it.
  • Never pay a deposit or a "registration fee" in advance to somebody you have not met.
  • Be sceptical of a price far below what the thing is worth.
  • For rentals and jobs, see the place and the paperwork before you commit to anything.

11. Availability and changes

fnder is in active development. Features may change, be added or be removed, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons beyond our control. We do not guarantee any level of availability, and we do not promise that your content will be preserved indefinitely — keep your own copy of anything that matters to you.

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page will change, and material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use fnder afterwards means you accept the new terms.

12. Disclaimer

fnder is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that distances, place names or ad content are accurate.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, fnder and its developer are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising from your use of the app.

In particular, we are not liable for the conduct of any user, for the quality, safety, legality or existence of anything advertised, or for any loss arising from a transaction between users.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using fnder at any time and ask us to delete your account — see account and data deletion. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to by law. Sections 9, 10, 12, 13 and 15 survive the end of this agreement.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer elsewhere, you may have rights under your own country's law that this clause does not take away.
